Aloha,

WaikikiWelcome to How To Be Awesome on $20 a Day! I believe that you don’t have to be rich to have a beautiful life. Heck, you don’t even have to be middle class. I’m here to show you how we eat well and laugh much too loudly on a majorly tight budget.

Because a good meal can solve just about any problem, you’ll find plenty of recipeson this blog. And to prove that I do more than just eat, you’ll also see tips on gardening and DIY home projects from my husband, cool reviews, and plenty of tips for an awesome, simple life.

At it’s heart, this blog is about the idea that experiences, not things, are what matter. You can be just as happy with the cheap stuff. We certainly have been.

About Renee

Renee at Queen's BeachI’m a former English teacher turned office slave living in Honolulu, Hawaii. Everything is expensive in the middle of the ocean, and my paycheck is less than impressive. I give myself $20 a day for spending money. When the cash runs out, there’s no more grocery shopping, lunches out, or trips to Starbucks. When you consider how many people on this planet live on $20 a month, it’s really quite generous.

I wanted to create this blog because I love browsing food and lifestyle blogs, but it seemed liked everybody out there was living a comfortable middle class life that I could only dream of. It sometimes left me feeling a bit depressed and extremely envious.

So what if your weekly paycheck isn’t enough to get you a Coach purse. Cheap or free can be just as fun. Consumerism doesn’t have to eat you alive. I’m trying to convince myself as much as you. Life is awesome, even on $20 a day.

Yay Renee! It’s so true. It’s amazing what you can learn to live without & all the things we really don’t need. It’s almost freeing:)
